INFO ABOUT THE TEACHER

The Pope Horticulture program is for all students grades 9-12 attending Pope High School. It's a great place for students to learn valuable gardening skills in our state of the art lab and greenhouse facility.

Located in Marietta, Georgia, the program is home of the Mighty Greyhound Greenhouse. Students grow a wide range of plants for experimentation, personal growing projects and numerous plant sales to the public. The class focuses on plant culture, plant identification, landscaping, business skills and teamwork to produce high quality ornamental crops.

But it doesn't stop there... Students also learn to identify and operate a wide variety of tools related to the landscaping trade. Students will learn to incorporate technology into their research and presentations. Students work as a team to grow, market and sell a wide variety of plants for the community. Our Plants Rock!!

All Pope students are eligible to join our FFA Horticulture club to further their interest into the deeper roots of horticultural studies. National FFA Site Visit the "Club Announcments" tab for more info!

The instructor, Joe Green, is a horticulture graduate of the University of Georgia and has worked over 30 years in the green industry.
